Unsurprisingly I am totally ignorant of Gallaudet! Is this the pioneer in Deaf studies, or someone else? Like you, I had a movie or two in mind when I read this, namely the Mitchell & Kenyon stuff. I got to see some transfers of those when they toured the US and it was just amazing.
