I thought it might be nice to break the ice a little, so if you like, please feel free to share your favorite movie, actor, director, etc. with us in the comments! I did see that! I'm a library cataloger, and I mostly do incoming DVDs, so while I've yet to watch it I definitely noticed!

Aha, a fellow librarian! W00t! Originally I wanted to be a cataloger, but I got sort of thrust into reference and find I like it...except when I don't, and wish I could sit quietly in the back room and process items all day. ;)

Oh, funny. I "fell" into cataloging in college, and that helped me get a real job, and here I am almost 10 years later. Of course now that I have my MLS, I need a "real librarian" job, and I don't see a lot of cataloging openings. And the public services folks don't want me with no experience!

Yeah, that's really crummy. It does seem like there's not a ton of cataloging openings these days...are you able to ask for an hour or two on the desk a week at your current job, or something?

I work in a service center, not physically connected to a library, but I'm exploring those kinds of options.

There's a lot of outsourcing, frankly.
