Iconic Criterion editions going out of print (and brief mod note)

Criterion was unable to renew the rights to several titles, and they are having a sale of these titles on their website until the copies are gone. Just FYI. Read more here.

EDIT: A quick mod note--I made the name tags uniform, so that all are firstname lastname, or in the case of someone known primarily by initials, initials lastname. You get the picture. FYI in case you go to use a tag (for, say, Murnau) and can't find it at first. It's still there!

*nods* I bought it a few years ago and feel guilty for not having cracked it open yet--but this sort of eventuality is exactly why I bought it, so.

I let our A/V librarian at the PL know and she's having me order every one I can get my hands on, unless it was bought in the last year or something. But even our copy of "Grand Illusion" has been watched over 200 times, so it's about time for a new one anyhow.

I'm really upset that's possibly going OOP. There must be all kinds of weird rights issues with Powell's movies, "A Matter of Life and Death" wasn't available for a good decade. D: I might get "Peeping Tom" too, I feel like it's got Important Things To Say. Supposedly it ruined Powell's career, didn't it? Because of the sex and violence? And yet I wonder if what really offended was the criticism of society implicit in the movie, rather than the violence or sexual content itself. *cynical*
