I thought I'd mentioned that I saw The Great Ziegfeld (most of it, anyway) on a flight recently, but apparently not.  Anyway, the name Ziegfeld is principally associated with theaters and showgirls and the Follies (cue Mr. Sondheim) in the early part of the last century, and the likelihood is that (aside from the movie) if you've heard of the Ziegfeld Follies at all, it was through the "Dignity.  Always dignity!" segment of Singin' in the Rain.

Anyway, the last Ziegfeld Follies chorus girl has died.

I'd like to see The Great Ziegfeld on the big screen, but I was very aware that Many Details Were Left Out.  Pity, because I admire William Powell's specialty:  Suavity that does not tip into oiliness.

William Powell is so boss. They're doing "My Man Godfrey" here this summer on the big screen and I cannot wait.

That's poignant about the chorus girl. It really is all history now. :(
